Charles Walter

Charles Walter (Chuck) is an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. A twenty-five year veteran of the Securities Industry, Chuck started his Wall Street career in 1985 at Shearson Lehman Brothers. Chuck was the first person to publicly come out as an LGBT employee at Citigroup (Equities Global Markets Division) and that step led to his dedicated service on Citigroup’s Diversity Committee for ten years. Chuck was also responsible for the formation of Citi Pride within their Equity Global Markets Division. He has vigorously supported and represented his firm at events such as: Out & Equal, GLSEN, GLAAD and AIDS Walk NY.

In 1999, Chuck co-founded the non-profit organization Reading Writing & Rhythm with country music artist, Chely Wright. Since its inception, the organization has raised over one million dollars and has put musical instruments and funds into 300 schools across the United States. Together, Chuck and Chely produced an annual benefit concert and auction that eventually became the official kick-off of the CMA Fest in Nashville, TN.

Chuck lives in New Jersey with his partner of 22 years, Mich and their two cats Garth and J.T. (Jack Twist).
